Amount of weight loss achieved by GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) drugs can vary from one medication to another and from one dosage to another. Below are the GLP-1 drugs and their potential weight loss link:

 

    • Semaglutide (Wegovy):
        • Average weight loss: 15-20% of body weight
        • It was reported by the clinic that, on average, people had lost 15.3% of their body weight for 68 weeks

 

    • Liraglutide (Saxenda):
        • Average weight loss: 5-10% of body weight
        • In clinical trials, it was found that on average the patients lost about 7.5% of their body weight over 56 weeks

 

    • Dulaglutide (Trulicity):
        • Average weight loss: 2-5% of body weight
        • Mostly used for diabetes control; however, if it works it can cause some weight loss as well

 

    • Tirzepatide (Mounjaro):
        • Average weight loss: 15-25% of body weight
        • Upon completion of the clinical trials, some participants managed to float to a 22.5% weight loss of the initial body weight, after 72 weeks

 

It should be emphasized that weight loss may differ from person to person, and these drugs should be taken as per a health professional’s instructions. Moreover, a well-balanced diet and a routine physical activity are usually the advised treatments with these drugs.
